Common Colors for Pumpkin Clip Art
Color can be very important for clip art. This is especially the case when clip art is used to set a mood or celebrate a holiday. For example, pumpkins are essential to both the fall season and Halloween. Orange is the color that best represents both of these holidays. Since orange comes in many different shades, we wanted to take a closer look at pumpkin clip art to see what kinds of orange are typically used.
Above is an excellent example of pumpkin clip art. Let's extract its primary color—in this case, the color orange. Next, we sample 3,000 pieces of pumpkin clip art and measure how close their primary color is to this pumpkin.
We find that 791 pumpkins have colors similar to this pumpkin. When we look at these pumpkins, we can see that the clip art is filled with this rich, saturated color as it nicely balances red and yellow producing an evocative orange.
Of course not all pumpkins are filled with a perfect balance of red and yellow. Our analysis shows that a smaller count of pumpkin clip art was filled with an orange color that leans yellow. Pumpkins with this color are brighter and lighter and echo other fall colors like tree leaves.
On the other side, we found some pumpkin clip art that was colored with an orange that leans red. These pumpkins are darker and richer and remind one of those pumpkin mellow crème candies.
While our analysis shows that most pumpkin clip art is filled with an orange that nicely blends red and yellow, pumpkin clip art can also be filled with other kinds of orange. Deciding on which orange can depend on what kind of theme you are going for in your project. Red orange provides a richer appearance, while yellow orange is lighter and feels more like fall.
Of course, for your project, you could go crazy and just use a color that has nothing to do with orange. Maybe a nice pale lime instead for your pumpkin clip art?
